Sound Steps – 500+ young musicians in tune with each other

Friday 28th March saw over 16 ensembles gather to make music at the Lime Tree Theatre.

Groups such as the Peter Dee Trad group, Reds Centre of Music Concert Band, Limerick School of Music Symphony Orchestra, Limerick Jazz Workshop and Centrestage shared a stage with four groups from Limerick’s Band Explosion and rappers from across the city.

In addition there were guest spots from locally based musicians Kathleen Turner, violinist Diane Daly and and Leading Armies, who lead an army of young musicians in one of their own songs and a wild rendition of Paul Simon’s You Can Call me Al.

At a special pre-show event on the giant steps outside the theatre all the above groups featured as well as younger performers such as the Sing Out with Strings Ensemble, the Limerick Children’s Choir and the Children’s Chamber Orchestra, combining to create one of the largest ensembles to ever perform in the city.
